When you write a seemingly awesome salutatorian speech and then your sister tells you it sucks and then you realize how much it sucks. Time for speech draft #3…

My little sister

I made a video today (it was lame)

TTieu: do you want to be a youtube star?

me: LOL no way

TTieu: i just found out they make bank!

me: wow

me: maybe i should

me: drunk singing with sooyun on tuesdays

“No baby you’re beautiful… you’re a unicorn or some shit…”

Thank you!

Today was kind of an emotional roller coaster for me. And I definitely thought it’d be a really hard day to get through.

And well— it still was hard! But it actually also turned out to be a really amazing day. And I feel like I want to dedicate this blog post to get some thank you’s in. (I don’t do this often so savour it!!! hahaha just kidding just kidding)

First to Miss Liz Lee who really reached out to me and invited me to tag along to an SF trip with TKyo, Jasmine, Ruben, and Polly.  I honestly kind of wanted to bum around at home and my eyes were puffy from crying so much I didn’t want to be seen in public at all, but she somehow managed to convince me and I ended up really enjoying myself. And the company was so so great too!

And then thank you to Henry and Shera who watched 500 Days of Summer with me. It’s always been my go-to movie when I’m feeling down, and I’ve watched it so many times that honestly I think I’m getting tired of it, but it was really fun watching with Henry and Shera. It was funny how Henry was the only one laughing (it was his first time watching), and how Shera burped like 10 times during the movie.

The burping was because Shera was also awesome enough to provide ice cream floats :D!

And then thank you again to Polly who came over to my apartment just to talk to me 1-on-1 for like an hour and provided me a shoulder to cry on when I needed it.

And thank you to Helen who is literally always there for me whether online or in person!

And thank you to Joe who told me inappropriate funny jokes and stories that made me feel a lot better.

And thank you to Daniel, Abe, and Tim who came in person to my apartment with a tub of ice cream and a tupperware full of home-made cookies. And a really good fun company so late at night.

And thank you to Polly, Liz, Jasmine, Shera, Diana, Flo, Ali, Henry, Ryan, Iris, Michael, Kristine, Soo, Eunice, my mom, my dad, and my sister who checked up on me via text, IM, or phone call, and offered support.

I honestly just wanted to get through this day, but I ended up feeling so so loved. Confession time: I teared up a little (or straight up cried) whenever I got a message from someone. I really felt overwhelmed by these wonderful people.

Really thank you :D!

Stupid things that I do #352

Eating too many fries and throwing it all up and then bursting blood vessels on my face

My sister is coming to Berkeley for CalSO!

Jihoon: But does bart run that early in the morning

Jihoon: I have to be there by 7:30am

me: yes

Jihoon: Okay

Jihoon: so I don't have to cancel my reservation

Jihoon: are there scary people on bart

me: yes

Jihoon: what if somebody tries to rob me

me: run

Jihoon: WTF

Mixed messages

Mom: Save money and try to find a single bedroom you can move into. $1000+ is too much.

Dad: Move to the safest place possible and find a nice 1br apartment for yourself. Sunnyvale looks nice. I did some research and it’s all around $1400 which is pretty good.

Do my parents not talk to each other

Moving stress

I had a conversation with my dad, and it looks like I’m probably going to have to move earlier than I was originally planning. I mean, I guess it makes sense? It’s a bit difficult (and economically inefficient) to commute from Berkeley to Palo Alto.

Anyway, he wants to approve my choices before I move, and he really wants me to go to Sunnyvale for whatever reason, so I sent him some listings that were within my budget.

His response:

“It should be at least 600sq…”

wtf dad why don’t you pay for my rent then
